Analysis:

 

Standing at 6-foot-4, weighing about 215 pounds, and sporting a massive 6'8" wingspan, Ohio State's head coach noticed something strange when scouting him during a high school game.

 

"I thought he was a forward or something ... when I saw him running the offense, I didn't think a kid that big could play PG."

 

The coach immediately offered Wilkins a scholarship following a 53-point blowout and a masterful performance put on by the senior. Wilkins would go on to win the starting job early in training camp, and was noted for his presence on the court.

 

"He was a leader on the court since day 1. Even though he was just a freshman on one of the most prestigous programs in all of college basketball, he went in with a fearless and team-first attitude."

 

Ohio State put up a great season, winning the Big Ten title and earning a number 1 seed in the tournement. Their only two losses came to Northwestern and UCLA, with both games being on the road. The Buckeyes cruised through the first few rounds of the tournement until they were matched up again with Northwestern, lead by superstar freshman Byron Austin.

 

The game would go down to be an all-time classic, but Wilkins' team wasn't able to pull through. "I was devastated", Wilkins explained, "but I wasn't going to let that ruin my confidence, and I feel like I learned from the experience."

 

Wilkins declared for the draft a few weeks after, and although his time at OSU was short-lived, it proved to be a memorable one.

 

Projection:

 

Darrell Wilkins won't go 1st overall (Austin), but there's a really good chance that he's the next name off the board, depending on who's drafting. Still, some teams may just go best available and choose him anyways.
